The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has stated that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is far from winning the 2027 presidential election because of the antecedents of its vice presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
This was mentioned in a statement issued today by the NNPP Secretary General, Mr Ogini Olaposi.
Olaposi said: “The betrayal of our great party by its 2023 presidential candidate, Kwankwaso, is against God and humanity.
He added; “This is why political parties must be careful of who they choose as running mates and or flag bearer
Kwankwaso freely dragged a party that catapulted him to limelight in the presidential contest and did everything he can to kidnap it from its owners and now thinks he is exempt from the wrath of God?
“Once a traitor always a traitor and posterity will show we are right,” he said.
Olaposi, who recalled statements by the Kwankwaso camp that suggested Dr Boniface Aniebonam dashed Kwankwaso the NNPP, said it was ludicrous for anyone to assume another can dash a party out.
“It is preposterous and unthinkable to say we had dashed out what belongs to the Board of Trustees of a registered political party, without handing over the original certificate of registration.
He said the NDC vice presidential candidate had the opportunity to contest the 2023 presidential election on the NNPP platform for the first time in his political life but turned around and stabbed the party.
“It is impossible for one candidate from a party to win alone. This means that people would also look at the antecedents of the running mate in case of any happenstance, the vice may become the president.
Nigerians know this and NDC will know this in the polls. Bringing in a rented throng at rallies is not the same as votes. The same audience will be paid to be anywhere else.
“NNPP gave Kwankwaso a rare opportunity in 2023, apart from a free ticket, and that is what has brought him to the front line of negotiations at the presidential level in Nigeria at the moment.
We won’t forget easily how he wrecked the party and drove our members away in droves. He is about to do the same thing soon to the NDC.
“It is much sad and regrettable that Kwankwaso never appreciated our benevolence to him but rather, he claimed to have made NNPP popular with his one million votes coming a distant fourth to Mr Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election.
“Indeed the same Peter Obi he referred to as his junior partner in politics and today he is carrying his bag behind him following him
“We hope that the founder of NDC, Seriaka Dickson, will be up and doing to activate his co-founders to protect the structure of NDC from Kwankwaso,” he continued.
But the NNPP national secretary, warned the party’s members, who were lured to return to the party ahead of the 2027 general election, to be wary.
