Afrobeats star Ayra Starr says she would probably be unemployed if she had not made it big in the entertainment world, saying her music career has totally changed the path of her life. Arts & Entertainment
In a recent discussion with EE72, the singer looked back on her rise to stardom, her career with Mavin Records and the reality of living in the limelight.
“If I wasn’t doing music I would literally be unemployed. I don’t think I’d be a content generator either. That would be a lot of work. “I’d just be vibing in my mama’s house, eating my mama’s food,” she remarked.
The 24-year-old also reminisced how delighted she was when she learnt that Don Jazzy and the Mavin team have been listening to her music before she got signed.
“I was so excited when I found out they were listening to my music. “You know who it is,” she told him. Music & Audio
“Fame has its challenges too,” Ayra Starr also confessed. “Sometimes I wish the public knew less about me because I tend to speak freely in interviews.
‘I wish people knew less about me. Once the camera’s on I can’t stop talking. And I feel like I’m oversharing,” she said.
Born Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, Ayra Starr was found on social media by Don Jazzy and signed to Mavin Records in 2020.
Since then, she has blossomed into one of Nigeria’s top musical exporters, dropping projects such “19 & Dangerous” and “The Year I Turned 21,” while receiving countless accolades, nominations and international acclaim.
