The Adamawa State Police Command has begun a detailed inquiry into the death of Rev. Emmanuel Ezeokwe, an Anglican priest.
The event took place in Zinai Village, Bolki, Song Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
On Wednesday, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command’s spokeswoman, reported that suspected gunmen broke into the community and shot Ezeokwe.
The PPRO said that police officers took the man to the hospital quickly, where a doctor confirmed that he had died.
The statement said, “On April 21, 2026, at about 6:30 a.m., the Command got a call from Amos Sunday from the same community saying that at about 12:48 a.m. that day, suspected gunmen invaded the village and shot the victim
“After getting the report, police officers from the Command quickly went to the scene, where they found the victim’s dead body and took him to the hospital right away.
A doctor, however, confirmed that he was dead, and the body was taken to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
“During the first investigation, three empty AK-47 rifle shells were found at the scene as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hasaan, has told the Deputy Commissioner of Police SCID to look into the matter quietly and sent tactical teams to find the people responsible and bring them to justice.
“The Command asks the public to stay calm and work with the police by giving them useful information that could help with the investigation.”
