The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the winner of the Anambra 2025 governorship election.
Channels TV says that the election, which started on Saturday, has ended with INEC naming the current governor, Chukwuma Soludo, as the winner.
INEC announced the results in the early hours of yesterday, and Soludo won by a landslide in the 21 local government areas of the South-East state.
After adding up the results from the local government areas of the state where the election was held, Omoregie Edoba, the State Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, said that Soludo was the winner.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate Soludo got 422,664 votes, beating his nearest opponent, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 99,445 votes.
Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came in third with 37,753 votes. John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) got 8,208 votes.
Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 1,401 votes, while George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) got 10,576 votes.
