Troops from Operation “Hadin Kai,” OPHK, stated they killed more over 50 terrorists and stopped several planned attacks on military bases in Borno and Yobe States.
Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East, OPHK, stated in a statement in Maiduguri that the attacks happened at the same time between midnight and 0400 hours today.
“The terrorists attacked troops in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko at the same time. These areas are in Sector 1 (Borno State) and Sector 2 (Yobe State), respectively.
“In every case, the troops stood their ground, fought bravely, and professionally fought off the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy, decisive, and bloody blow.”
He claimed that the air component of the OPHK helped the ground soldiers carry out their coordinated attack, which led to the precise attacks on the terrorists.
“The combined efforts on the ground and in the air killed more than 50 terrorists in all of the locations.
He said, “In addition, ground troops are still looking for more than 70 of the wounded criminals, with the Air Component providing close support.”
The statement said that the troops also found 38 AK-47 rifles, 7 PKT machine guns, 5 RPG tubes, 2 GPMGs, and hand grenades, as well as hundreds of different types of belted and loose rounds of different calibers.
“Intelligence also showed that the militants who attacked Dikwa and Gajibo came from Cameroon, while those who attacked Katarko came from the Timbuktu Triangle, which is a recognized terrorist stronghold.
“Some of the brave soldiers were hurt in battle, but they are now stable. During the conflict, terrorists used armed drones and RPG fire to destroy some cars and structures, especially in Mafa and Dikwa, where part of the defenses were briefly breached.
“The Military High Command has praised the troops’ bravery, determination, and renewed charge. “Their steady performance once again shows the military’s unwavering determination and ability to protect the country’s borders from all threats, especially now that more troops and important combat tools have been sent to the area,” he said.
Earlier reports said that terrorists attacked many places in the states.
