The third edition of the Rivers International Film Festival (RIFF) will take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from October 30 to November 2, 2025. It will feature 272 films from 65 nations.
This year’s theme is “Roots and Resilience: Exploring the Strength and Resilience of Indigenous Cultures.” It will highlight African storytelling and global innovation while showing that Rivers State is a safe and lively place to go for cinema, culture, and investment.
The people in charge of the film festival promised that the 2025 event will do more than just show movies. It will also spark talks about culture, tourism, and innovation, which will help Nigeria’s creative economy and highlight how much artistic potential Rivers has.
Kate Chidinma Ezeigbo, the Festival Director, stated during a press conference in Port Harcourt yesterday that the festival had grown into a global platform for cultural exchange and collaboration.
Ezeigbo added, “Our 2025 edition will show 272 films from 65 countries. This is a clear sign of how far the Rivers International Film Festival has come in promoting indigenous creativity and global collaboration.”
“These movies celebrate the strength and resilience of our roots, tell real African stories, and show that Rivers State is a cultural and creative powerhouse.”
Emmanuel Osunwa, the Festival Coordinator and Rivers State Chairman of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), also spoke. He said that the theme for the 2025 edition shows how much RIFF cares about preserving indigenous cultures and showing how important they are in shaping a people’s identity and way of life.
He said that the 2025 edition of the festival is a big step up from past ones. He also said that RIFF has a lot of potential to boost the economy in Rivers State and the Niger Delta by creating jobs and promoting the region’s rich cultural heritage around the world.
