The arrest of a suspected traffic robber in the Lekki region of the state, who went by the name Ali, has been confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command.
The “notorious traffic robber, one Ali’m’, was arrested in the Ikate area of Lekki” yesterday while engaging in “his nefarious activities through the combined efforts of residents and the police,” according to state Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin.

The suspect’s arrest was predicated on an intelligence tip that the LCC received, according to Veronica Jacob, head of corporate affairs, communications, and marketing, who made the announcement yesterday.
“A retired Colonel of the Nigerian Army reported to the state governor about the nefarious activities of a man posing as a beggar who then attacks and relieves unsuspecting motorists of their valuables in the state,” Jacob stated. Solomon Tolafari, the Chief Security Officer of the LCC.
The statement also stated that “Tolofari mobilised our Man ‘O War team to go after him based on the recent report of a man that had been terrorising road users along the Lekki corridor. He was apprehended around the Ikate area on Tuesday carrying out his nefarious activities, robbing unsuspecting motorists while pretending to be begging for alms.”
According to the LCC, Ali was turned over to Maroko Police Station officials for additional inquiry and potential legal action.
“The suspect will be arraigned contingent on the outcome of an investigation,” the state PPRO concluded.
