Nollywood actress, Ini Dima-Okojie has had her first kid with her husband, Abasi Ene-Obong.
The actress broke the happy news via Instagram yesterday which also happened to be her 36th birthday. The couple had recently welcomed a baby boy.
Along with the announcement came photos shot immediately after birth, showing the actress cuddling her newborn boy in a hospital bed as she revealed him to the public for the first time.
“It’s the most transformative role I’ve ever done,” said the Blood Sisters actor, as she reflected on her path into motherhood.
“There’s not a role I’ve ever played that’s humbled me, stretched me, challenged me or filled my heart as this one
“The past weeks have been some of the most beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting and rewarding weeks of my life,” she wrote.
The 36-year-old said learning about her kid has been “the greatest gift,” and that caring for him has revealed strengths she never realised she had, while increasing her appreciation of mothers everywhere.
The biggest present has been getting to know this little guy, a darling boy with the prettiest dimples. Watching him grow, learning from him, loving him and caring for him has revealed strengths I didn’t know I possessed. “It’s also given me a much greater appreciation for mothers everywhere,” she remarked.
Ini got married to her spouse, Dr Abasi Ene-Obong, founder and former Chief Executive Officer of genomics business 54gene, in 2022.
Fans and fellow celebrities including Nancy Isime, Chioma Ikokwu, Kehinde Bankole and Osas Ighodaro congratulated the couple on their announcement.
Battling with Fibroids
She has been transparent about her battle with fibroids throughout the years, frequently sharing her story publicly to educate folks about the issue.
Ini revealed in 2020 that she was diagnosed with fibroids in 2017 and had first delayed surgery while trying other remedies, such as changing her diet and exercising regularly.
She had a good surgery in November 2020.
In July 2024 she announced the fibroids had returned years after the treatment. Three months later she posted an update claiming she was making lifestyle adjustments and the fibroids were diminishing.
The arrival of her newborn son is a wonderful new chapter for Ini and her family, who described her pregnancy as a “miracle” and a truly humbling event.
