The terrorists that kidnapped teachers of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have beheaded the head of one of the instructors, Michael Oyedokun.
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the kidnappers published a video of the gunman beheading Oyedokun.
The gunmen raided the school on Friday, May 15, Daily Independent reports and abducted the principal, other instructors and some pupils.
The incident which followed weeks after a foiled kidnap attempt that claimed one traveler’s life along the Ibadan-Ijebu road, has revived worry about the escalating insecurity in areas of Oyo State and across Nigeria.
The terrible video has plunged the community into sadness as residents, relatives of the victims and native continue to appeal for security authorities and the Oyo State Government to increase rescue operations to obtain the release of those remaining in captivity before being killed.
The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force had earlier said that a classroom teacher and an Okada rider were killed when the gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School and L. A Primary School, Esiele, in the Oriire local government area of Oyo state on Friday.
The attacks on schools in the Ogbomoso community led to the abduction of the school principal, vice-principal, one other worker and an indeterminate number of kids.
The okada rider was reportedly shot dead for refusing the forced taking over of his bike by the intruders.
They also took away a Toyota Corolla belonging to the abducted vice principal and later burned the vehicle on fire along the road going to the forest.
The kidnappers’ video released yesterday purportedly showed Oyedokun slain, leading to outrage and anxiety about the safety of the other captives still in captivity.
The event has sparked concerns over rising insecurity and attacks on schools in some parts of Nigeria, especially following previous attempts at abductions along the Ibadan-Ijebu road corridor.
Residents of the affected community, families of victims and concerned citizens have continued to call on security services and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts and ensure the safe release of those remaining in captivity.
The authorities had not confirmed the killing publicly at the time of reporting this article.
