The family of a former special adviser to the Delta State Governor, Shimite Bello, has called for an investigation into the circumstances leading to her death.
Two days ago Agatha Amata who is her older held a press conference. I couldn’t listen properly cos the output wasn’t clear.
They have however asked the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s to transfer the case and they applaud his decision to transfer the case to Abuja.
Shimite was said to have died on Easter Sunday after she was rushed to a hospital in Asaba, the state capital.
The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagu, who announced her death, according to reports, stated that the circumstances surrounding Bello’s death were unclear to him.
When I am able to grab the gist of the press briefing I will share.
Meanwhile this is what the family demands are
JUSTICE FOR SHIMITE: A CALL TO ACTION
We commend the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and his team for their unwavering commitment to justice in the case of Shimite’s alleged murder. Their prompt intervention has ensured a thorough investigation.
CONCERNS ABOUT ASABA POLICE COMMAND’S NONCOMPLIANCE
Despite the IGP’s directive to transfer both the case file and prime suspect, Mr. David Favor Love, to the IGP Monitoring Unit in Abuja, the Delta State Police Command in Asaba has only partially complied. The command’s refusal to hand over the suspect raises concerns about potential obstruction of justice.
CALL TO ACTION
We urge the Delta State Police Command to:
1. Immediately rearrest Mr. David Favor Love.
2. Hand him over to the IGP Monitoring Unit as directed.
If the command fails to act, we request that police authorities:
1. Declare Mr. David Favor Love “WANTED”.
2. Arrest him wherever he is found.
PUBLIC SUPPORT
We call upon the public, human rights organizations, and media to:
1. Amplify this appeal.
2. Maintain pressure on the Asaba Command until justice is served.
Together, let’s ensure justice for Shimite and her loved ones.
