Breaking: Federal lawmaker’s sprawling mansion burnt down by assailants in Ihiala

Dr. Paschal Agbodike, a member of Congress from the Ihiala Federal Constituency, had his home torched by unknown assailants.

According to the Daily Independent, the intruders entered the home in the Ubahi-Mbosi neighbourhood of the Ihiala Local Government Area at around 1 a.m. today and began firing randomly before setting the house on fire.

Agbodike’s hometown serves as the scene of the incident; he was the former deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Although no lives were lost, the house was completely destroyed. It was a five-bedroom duplex with four living rooms and a kitchen.

The lawmaker who spoke with reporters today confirmed the incident and said he was told by phone.

He was performing his parliamentary duties in Abuja at the time of the attack, and before security personnel arrived, the perpetrators had already fled.He also did not say who he suspected or whether his investigation was motivated by politics.

The incident has been confirmed by the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who also stated that increased surveillance has been implemented in the area.

According to Ikenga, “the area has been condoned and security operatives have been deployed to the area and are assessing the situation.” The operatives are constantly watching.
