Former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, says his selection as a member of All Progressives Congress 61-member Contact and Strategy Committee is a call to serve the ruling party and the nation.

Ambode, who was governor of Lagos between 2015 and 2019, stated this when the Chairman of the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the APC, Mai Mala Buni, inaugurated the committee in Abuja on Tuesday.

Other notable persons inaugurated as members of the committee alongside Ambode are ex-Speakers House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and Yakubu Dogara; and 12 governors.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Ambode wrote, “Along with other notable and distinguished colleagues, I was today selected by our party, the All Progressives Congress, to be a member of the Contact and Strategy Committee. This is a call to serve the Party and more importantly, our nation.”

The ruling party had said that the party needed to be in power for up to 32 years to consolidate on the delivery of the dividends of democracy which it has been delivering since 2015.

Buni, who is also the Yobe State governor, had explained that the party decided to set up the high-powered committee to map out strategies and prepare grounds for the actualisation of this objective. (The PUNCH)
