The Onojie of Ewu, His Royal Highness Jafaru Isesele I, has expressed deep sadness over the demise of Deaconess Angel Aimiugwina Oyakhilome, nee Ojeme, who died on September 25.
The traditional ruler, in a condolence message to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the Ojeme family of Eko-Ojeme, Ewu, the Oyakhilome family of Idunwele, Ewu, and the global Christ Embassy (LoveWorld) family, described the departed as a woman of faith, humility, kindness and virtue whose life left an indelible legacy.
The Onojie claimed Deaconess Angel was not just a member of the Ojeme lineage, but a committed Christian, mother and matriarch whose influence went beyond her own family.
In a condolence statement personally signed by His Royal Highness Jafaru Isesele I, he said:
With sorrow beyond measure, but with the hope of our Christian faith to console us, I, on behalf of the people and the traditional institution of Ewu, express my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Deaconess Angel Aimiugwina Oyakhilome, née Ojeme, who has gone to be with her ancestors in eternal glory, having departed from this world on the 25th of September 2026.
Words attempt to fill the silence left by a mother’s loss. It is the closing of a chapter in the earthly journey of one whose life was a blessing to family, community and generations to come. We celebrate the extraordinary life we recall, not just the loss we lament at this melancholy moment.
“Deaconess Angel was a true daughter of Ojeme, a woman in whom the majesty of her heritage was beautifully expressed. She carried her genealogy not as a mere name but as a living legacy of dignity, humility, compassion and virtue. Dressed in humility and ornamented with kindness, grounded by an unwavering faith in God.
Her life was a silent message conveyed by her character as well as by her words. She proved that greatness need not toot its own horn; that greatness sometimes walks softly, speaks softly, serves dutifully and leaves imprints of love on the hearts of those who meet it.
She was the cherished wife of Deacon Tim Oyakhilome and the mother of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, holding a position of unique importance in a family whose impact has reached well beyond Ewu and Nigeria. But beyond any titles or associations, she was first of all a lady of faith, a devoted Christian whose life embodied the virtues she proclaimed.
“Her story is a reminder that a mother plants trees under whose shade she may never sit. Generations to come will continue to reap the benefits of her sacrifices, prayers, discipline and love. Like a lamp faithfully preserved through the nite, her influence has lit the way of those entrusted to her care. But those hands which nurtured, comforted and blessed Are now at rest. But what they did Shall live on and speak.
“We send our deepest condolences especially to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome whose loss is immeasurable; to the entire Oyakhilome family of Idunwele, Ewu and the Ojeme family of Eko-Ojeme, Ewu whose beloved daughter has gone back to eternity; and to the entire Christ Embassy/LoveWorld family across the globe who mourn the loss of a beloved mother and matriarch.
In this hour of sadness we are reminded of the timeless words of Scripture: “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” Her time on earth has passed, yet her life’s scent remains.
Deaconess Angel Aimiugwina Oyakhilome lived with grace, served with love, walked in faith and departed with a legacy that will not simply fade.
May her remembrance be for a blessing. May the good she sown continue to grow like a tree planted by the living waters. And may the Almighty God, whose wisdom is greater than ours, give strength, comfort and serenity to her devastated relatives and to all who mourn her passing.
The statement read in part, “On behalf of the people of Ewu and the traditional institution we offer our deepest condolence and prayers to the entire bereaved family and the global Christ Embassy family.”
