A building has collapsed at Wuse Zone 4 Abuja and rescue activities are ongoing at the area.
Men of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service are on ground to carry out rescue efforts and three ambulances have also been stationed at the scene.
The FCT Police Command claimed it received a distress call on the building collapse last nite.
The police reaction team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, ACP Edward Akaniyene and the Area Commander, Metro, ACP Georgelyn Ufomadu rushed quickly to the site.
Other agencies involved in the rescue and search operations include personnel of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Federal Fire Service (FFS), Security Service Department, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and other relevant emergency response agencies.
The FCTA Development Control Department had already shut the building and directed the tenants to leave the premises.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the structure was originally tagged and sealed by the Department of Development Control, Abuja, the police said.
No victims have been confirmed so yet, authorities say, but search and rescue activities are continuing in an effort to locate and rescue anyone who may be trapped under the wreckage.
Police said they were also investigating the circumstances and likely cause of the building collapse.
The Command asked citizens to be calm and security-conscious, to avoid the impacted area and to cooperate with emergency services to assist the ongoing rescue operations.
