Kemi Adeosun, a former Nigerian minister of finance, is grieving the loss of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi “Niyi” Adeosun, who died at age 62.
Anthony passed away in Lagos on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, according to a statement released by the Adeosun family and signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun.
According to the family, the deceased was a well-liked businessman and devout Christian whose life was characterised by diligence, honesty, devotion to his family and community, and service to God.
The family stated, “He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.”
In addition to his brother, Adewale Adeosun, who founded Kuramo Capital, Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, Kemi Adeosun, their kids, and other members of his extended family.
The cause of his death has not been revealed by the family.
Since then, Kemi Adeosun and the Adeosun family have received condolences from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described the death as a terrible loss.
From 2015 until her departure in September 2018, Kemi Adeosun was Nigeria’s Minister of Finance. Since then, she has continued to be involved in public and development-related projects.
Friends, political allies, and members of the larger Nigerian community have expressed their sorrow on her husband’s passing.
