The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) said that the recent rating of Apapa and Tincan ports as among the world’s most improved ports is not only satisfying but indicative that the economic reforms embarked on by President Bola Tinubu administration are delivering the intended benefits.
TMV in a statement by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe contended that it is a reflection of the work that the administration is putting into the mission of setting the country on the path of sustainable progress.
Tinubu Media Volunteers “With this rating, we the Tinubu Media Volunteers note that Nigeria’s maritime sector has been given a major boost based on the latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) of the World Bank.
“The recognition contained in the CPPI report for 2025, published in June 2026, is a reflection of the progress made by the Nigerian Ports Authority in the areas of port efficiency, vessel turnaround time and overall operational performance.
“The index also offers a data-driven assessment of the performance of ports over time and identifies improvements in efficiency and service delivery across the maritime global hubs.
“We also recognise that the ranking of the two Nigerian ports in the top 20 Port Improvement category is a reflection of the continuous efforts of the NPA to modernise infrastructure, improve operational efficiency and position Nigeria competitively in global trade.
The Nigerian ports infrastructure has been improved, leading to the country maintaining a trade surplus for the last three years and also making it easy to do business in the country.
The good trend is also giving a shot in the arm to investor confidence and bringing in more foreign direct investment into the country.
The association further expressed a belief that the updated ranking would place Nigerian ports as the main trade gateways for the West and Central Africa areas.
