The political landscape in Nigeria is shifting as the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has formally announced his ambition to vie for the presidency in 2027.
The official announcement was made by Makinde at the Unity rally sponsored by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All People’s Movement (APM) together to formalise the partnership between the two parties, reported Channels TV.
The governor urged on the opposition leaders to come together against what he claimed was a calculated attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to drag Nigeria to a one-party state.
He said Nigeria no longer practices a democracy without political terrain that provides level playing field for opposition parties without influence from the ruling party.
He equally challenged Nigerians to move from being what he termed political watchers and by-standers, saying that with the collective participation of all Nigerians of eligible age to vote, Nigeria will record a historic reset in 2027.
