The list for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles includes well-known Nigerian Afrobeats musician Rema.
The Nigerian singer will perform at Los Angeles Stadium with South Africa’s Tyla, American rapper Future, pop artist Katy Perry, Brazil’s Anitta, and BLACKPINK member LISA, FIFA said today.
Three distinct opening rituals will be held in each of the host countries, according to the international football organization.
On June 11, 2026, Mexico City will host its event; on June 12, Toronto and Los Angeles will host theirs.
FIFA claims that the festivities will feature football, music, and entertainment to commemorate what it called a historic summer in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Ninety minutes prior to kickoff, the Los Angeles ceremony will start, and supporters will be treated to pre-match entertainment.
The opening ceremony in Los Angeles, according to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, reflects the scope and cultural variety of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Infantino claimed that the event, which would take place in what he referred to as the “entertainment capital of the world,” will highlight the impact of the US on pop culture, music, and entertainment.
He pointed out that the performers’ roster showcases the nation’s diasporas and exemplifies how music can bring individuals from all over the country together.
“The Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles, the world’s entertainment capital, represents the extraordinary scale of what the FIFA World Cup 2026 will become,” the statement said.
The festivities in Los Angeles will be led by international superstars Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema, and Tyla. Other well-known performers are still to be revealed.
“This lineup of artists highlights the nation’s rich influence on music, entertainment, and pop culture while showcasing the power of music to bring people together across the country, reflecting the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas.”
Large-scale visuals, immersive narrative, and live performances focused on the FIFA World Cup Trophy will all be part of the celebration, which will be produced by Balich Wonder Studio.
There will be 104 games in 16 cities among the three host nations in 2026.
It begins on June 11 in Mexico City and ends on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium with the championship game.
