The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced it destroyed terrorists’ enclaves in Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State, following a precision airstrike operation.
The NAF claimed the operation was carried out within the air component of Operation HADIN KAI in a statement issued on Saturday by its Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
“A precision air interdiction mission was conducted against Ali Sheriffti, a known terrorist enclave in the Southern Tumbuns, at approximately 6:50 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, following sustained operational pressure on terrorist elements.”
“Based on credible intelligence of terrorist activity, NAF air assets conducted a focused surveillance sweep during which several insurgents were sighted moving along concealed tracks,” the statement stated.
“The targets were tracked to structures hidden by dense foliage, evidence of intent to conceal. Once positively identified, the NAF executed a precision strike, engaging the structures with onboard bombs.
“The operation achieved its intended effect, destroying terrorist structures, further degrading their capability and freedom of movement in the area,” it continued.
The action demonstrates the Air Force’s commitment to intelligence-driven, precision-focused operations to deny terrorists safe havens, the Air Force stated.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, has again reiterated the service’s determination to continue the offensive.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with unrelenting precision and unrelenting force to ensure that no enclave is beyond our reach,” Aneke added.
He said that in the next weeks efforts would be intensified to increase security and safeguard civilians.
