The Federal Road Safety Corps and the Beer Sectoral Group have signed a new five-year Memorandum of Understanding to stop people from drinking and driving and promote a culture of responsible drinking among drivers in Nigeria.
Osondu Ohaeri, the Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, declared in a statement that this is not a ceremony. It is a planned, coordinated attack against the largest preventable source of road deaths in Nigeria. The deal gives law enforcement and the business community the power to protect every commuter, every family, and every life on Nigerian roadways.
The Corps Marshal FRSC, Shehu Mohammed mni, and the Beer Sectoral Group Chairman, Thibaut Boidin, signed the agreement together at the FRSC National Headquarters today, April 20, 2026.
It is important to remember that this MoU proclaims war against complacency. It calls for stronger nationwide campaigns, more active public education, and focused actions that deal with alcohol driving at its source.
The Corps has the power of law and data-driven enforcement, while the Beer Sectoral Group has reach, resources, and accountability. The two partners will work together to change the culture that sees alcohol and steering wheels as compatible.
For the next five years, this group will judge success by how many people stay alive, how many families stay together, and how safe the roadways are. The FRSC and Beer Sectoral Group are setting an example, and every Nigerian should know this. If you drink, don’t drive at all.
The agreement was signed in front of the heads of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Girish Sharma, and International Breweries Plc, Nicholas Kade, as well as BSG Executive Director Abiola Lasehinde and the whole FRSC Management.
