The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has termed the nascent Campaign Council of President Bola Tinubu for 2027 as a “rehabilitation center” for those with unresolved corruption questions hanging over their heads. Executive Branch
The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, questioned the inclusion of former officials, Betta Edu and Ngozi Olejeme and asked the government to explain if the outstanding corruption cases against them have been resolved or if this appointment is Tinubu’s way of pardoning corrupt officials associated with his party.
The party, according to the Sunday Independent, said most of the people assembled for the president’s campaign are not credible and insisted that the 2027 general election would be a referendum on Tinubu’s performance in the last three years.
“We have taken note of the make-up of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council. What should be a political task team turns out to be like a rehabilitation system for people with unanswered questions of corruption and public accountability.
“We note, especially the inclusion of ex Humanitarian Affairs Minister Betta Edu, who was suspended by President Tinubu following the controversy surrounding the attempted transfer of N585 million into a private account, as well as Former NSITF Chairman Ngozi Olejeme, who has faced EFCC prosecution over allegations of financial malpractices, among others, whose name carry pungent odour of corruption. The inclusion of these persons raises a crucial question: What happened to the cases involving these individuals If they have been cleared, the government must show how, when and by whom they were cleared.
“Investigations into financial crimes have been a regular feature under this administration, only to quietly disappear for the accused to reappear in another official position unexpectedly.
“Corruption allegations increasingly seem to have an expiry date under this government. “As long as someone is politically useful enough, yesterday’s questions don’t need today’s answers.
“To drive home the point, the 2027 election will be a referendum on the record of President Tinubu. President could call his old friends and political allies, including those with unresolved corruption concerns, but all their collective brooms cannot sweep away the grave pains they have imposed on the Nigerian people. They can’t campaign the cost of living crises or the endemic poverty generated by their own lousy policies away.
“They have told Nigerians who can hardly afford food to tighten their belts for three years while those in government continue to wallow in obscene opulence, feeding fat on common wealth. “The day of judgement is upon us.”
“ we reaffirm our commitment to subsidise production of fuel as a way of bringing down the pump price of fuel and the general cost of living in the country,” the party remarked on the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
We have seen the hurry of government sponsored attacks on our plan for a targeted, capped, budgeted and independently inspected subsidy intervention on the basis that Nigeria cannot afford it.

Our suggestion is simple. Every naira should be traceable and every barrel accounted for. “Before President Tinubu lectures Nigerians about the cost of helping them, he should account for the cost of his own government’s wrong-headed policy that has turned state governors into wastrels and federal agents into profligates.
