Bishop Gideon Osagie Osazee, Founder of Rollo Life of Christ Brethren Ministry in Benin City, Edo State, has been apprehended for purportedly sexually assaulting two biological sisters.
In addition to the two sisters, four additional girls have come forward to testify that Bishop Osazee engaged in sexual intercourse with them, according to Daily Independent.
Bishop Osazee was apprehended by Edo State government officials following several days of surveillance.
The two sisters stated they were 13 and 17 years old at the time of the sexual attack.
The eldest sister, who asserts she is currently 21, stated, “I was asleep when the suspect engaged in sexual intercourse with her.”
I awakened and observed that it was my Pastor. That was how he exploited me. He subdued me. He informed the church that he would conduct a midnight deliverance ritual on my behalf. That evening, he compelled me to pledge an oath of secrecy regarding the sexual encounter and asserted that any male who engaged in sexual relations with me would be confined due to his surveillance apparatus.
The younger sister stated that she was 13 years old when the Bishop engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
Bishop Osazee, who refuted the charges, stated that he had a relationship with the eldest sister.
He stated that the victim informed him she was 21 at the onset of their relationship.
Bishop Osazee stated that he purchased a ring to propose to her.
Eugene Abdullah, the Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, stated that other minors from the church have reported instances of sexual harassment by the suspect.
She stated that the case would be referred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Edo State Police Command for prosecution.
Faith Edebor, representing the Vivian Sexual Assault Referral Centre, stated that the preliminary inquiry corroborated the victims’ assertions.
