Just hours after coming from Egypt, where the squad tented for five days in advance of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins this weekend, Nigeria held its first training session in Morocco yesterday.
As Coach Eric Chelle started training for the tournament, Nigeria played a test match against the Pharoahs while in Egypt and lost 1-2. The Super Eagles are one of the title contenders, according to The Guardian.
Victor Osimhen and Simon Moses, who were the last to join the squad, trained with the team for the first time yesterday during a nearly two-hour session.
The team’s schedule states that the team will train twice today, with journalists allowed to observe the first fifteen minutes.
Nigeria will play the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their opening Group C match of the championship. On December 27, they will play the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, and on December 30, they will play the Cranes of Uganda.
If the Super Eagles win their group, they will stay in the city for the round of 16. They will play all of their group stage games at Complexe Sportif de Fes.
If they get it through all the phases, they will then travel to Rabat for the semi-final and final, and then to Marrakech for the quarter-final.
If they place second in Group C, though, their course will be different. They will play in the quarterfinals and semifinals in Tangier and Rabat for the final, as well as the round of 16 in Casablanca.
The tournament’s final will take place on January 18, 2026, at Rabat’s 68,000-seat Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.
