Tottenham have signed Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City today for a rumoured starting fee of £75 million ($102 million) to raise their overall outlay in the transfer market above £300 million this window.
The 22-year-old spent two seasons with City but could not break into the first team, AFP reported.
But Spurs are hoping he will inject pace and inventiveness into their attack after barely escaping relegation from the Premier League last season.
“It’s been a while but I am very happy to be here,” Savinho said in a statement from Tottenham.
“It’s a great opportunity at a fantastic club with one of the best managers in world football.
“As soon as I talked to the head coach, I knew I had to come. “He told me that he wants to help me get to the highest level and I think that we can do that together, as a team.”

But the Italian’s lavish overhaul of the Tottenham squad began with a terrible 3-0 defeat at Brentford in the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
Savinho joins pricey signings Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and Jan Paul Van Hecke, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have also arrived on a free transfer.
“Savio is a player who can contribute energy, imagination and quality in various areas. “He has the courage to go at defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity,” said De Zerbi.
“We’re very happy to have him on board and I’m excited about working with him and helping him continue to grow and see him bring his personality to the team.
The city might potentially bag an extra £10million in add-ons.
There is also likely to be further activity between the two teams with Egypt forward Omar Marmoush also due to leave Manchester for north London before the conclusion of the window next week.
Savinho joined from Troyes, another of the clubs owned by City’s owners, for £30m in 2024.
He rose to prominence during a blazing loan spell at another City Football Group club, Girona, but has so far been unable to reproduce that form on English soil.
In 84 games, Savinho scored only seven as City failed to lift Premier League or Champions League silverware in Pep Guardiola’s last two seasons in command.
