Hon. Rosemary Aduku, a councillor for Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, is said to have died after being held in captivity for days.
The Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area, Dr Ameh Williams confirmed her death today in a statement on behalf of the Olamaboro Executive Council.
Hon Rosella, as Aduku was generally known among her colleagues, was characterised as a humble, dependable and sympathetic politician who was committed to the pleasure and well-being of people around her, says Vanguard.
In a statement announcing her death and burial preparations, Williams said she was deeply saddened by the loss and described the late councillor as a great person whose services to her community and colleagues will not be forgotten.
The statement stated, “It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden demise of our dear sister and colleague, Hon. Mrs Rosemary Aduku, the Honourable Councillor representing the good people of Ogugu Ward III in the 8th Olamaboro Legislative Council.”
“She was respected by many, not just for her humility, but also for her reliability and positive disposition toward others,” stated the council chairman.
“Hon. Rosella as she is fondly called among her colleagues in the council and members of the Olamaboro Executive Council, has been a wonderful soul and down to earth.
“She’s a dependable person who has a plan for making everyone happy around her. Your life was short-lived, but we will undoubtedly take solace in your legacies and testimonials we have received after your demise,” the statement added.
Williams also condoled the bereaved family, members of the Olamaboro Legislative Council, the Executive Council and whole Ogugu community on the loss.
He requested God to give the departed eternal rest and give her loved ones the strength to face what he characterised as an irreparable loss.
The statement ended: “Adieu Hon. Mrs Rosemary Aduku.”
The burial is scheduled for 1pm today at the family compound Ogugu Center.
The chairman also urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attend the burial and join the community in paying their last respects to the late councillor.
