The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has moved an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower to the site of the collapsed T367 tower in Yauri, Kebbi State, pushing rehabilitation of the 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi transmission line into a critical restoration phase.
The development comes after the collapsed transmission tower was completely dismantled and decommissioned, with TCN engineers aligning and preparing the conductors and skywire for the next stage of the repair.
TCN, in an update issued on Wednesday, said significant progress had been recorded at the affected location, where technical personnel are working to restore the damaged section of the transmission corridor.
The Company said the ERS tower is now at the site and ready for installation, after which cable stringing and other associated works will commence.
The restoration operation is expected to culminate in the re-energisation of the affected section and the return of normal bulk electricity transmission through the Kainji-Birnin Kebbi corridor.
The Kainji-Birnin Kebbi line is a 330kV high-voltage transmission route, making the restoration a critical component of efforts to stabilise bulk power transmission in the affected network.
TCN said its engineers and technical teams remained deployed at the site and were working to complete the restoration as quickly as possible.

The latest development marks a shift from the initial dismantling phase to the physical reconstruction stage, with the arrival of the emergency tower clearing the way for installation and subsequent conductor stringing.
The rehabilitation followed the collapse of tower T367 along the transmission line corridor in Yauri.
TCN said the damaged tower had now been completely dismantled and decommissioned, removing the failed structure from the affected section of the line.
The conductors and skywire have also been properly aligned and prepared for the next phase of restoration.
The Company did not give a specific completion date in its latest statement but said every effort was being made to ensure a quick restoration of the line.

The movement of the ERS tower to Yauri represents one of the key operational steps in the restoration process.
With the structure already positioned at the affected location, TCN said installation would be followed by cable stringing and associated technical works.
The sequence will allow engineers to progressively rebuild the damaged section before testing and restoration of the transmission line.
TCN assures consumers
The transmission company acknowledged the impact of the incident on electricity consumers and other stakeholders dependent on the affected transmission network.
TCN appealed for continued patience and understanding while the restoration work continues.
The development will be closely watched by electricity distributors and consumers in areas dependent on power transmitted through the corridor, as restoration of the 330kV line is expected to strengthen the transmission network once the damaged section is returned to service.
TCN said it would continue to deploy the required technical resources to complete the restoration operation.
