Aliko Dangote, president of Dangote Industries Limited, stated that he is happy with his three daughters’ accomplishments and that he does not now prioritise having a son.
In an interview that was broadcast by Arise News today, Dangote, 69, revealed the information in response to a query about whether he still wanted a male heir to continue the family name.
Since God is in charge of everything, that is not my top focus. You can ask God to grant you a son, but he may be the one who destroys the family name. Don’t press when God doesn’t give you something, he remarked.
The millionaire businessman stated that he did not think having a son would have yielded better outcomes than his three girls, Fatima, Mariya, and Halima.
Dangote remarked, “I don’t think a son would have done better than the three daughters I have.”
Discussions concerning his succession plans and the future of his fortune coincided with his remarks.
Halima Dangote, his daughter and a trustee of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, revealed in July that the family had decided to donate 33% of his assets to charitable causes.
During the interview, Dangote verified the plan, stating that a contract had been written to guarantee that the Dangote Foundation would receive a third of his estate upon his passing.
“It’s a document that we signed stating that, since I won’t live forever, that third belongs to the Dangote Foundation, and the foundation should distribute that money to people in the event of an emergency,” he stated.
Forbes estimates Dangote’s net worth to be $51.3 billion.
The billionaire gave advice to young people who want to achieve, saying that they should work hard, stay focused and consistent, and not rush the process.
“Work hard, stay focused, be consistent, and know what you want to accomplish.” You can’t be a jack of all trades; focus, you’ll succeed, and don’t rush things,” he advised.
Dangote also thought back to his early years in business, remembering that he began as a wholesaler rather than an importer.
“I started out as a distributor rather than an importer, selling just four trucks,” he stated.
