Virgin Atlantic Airlines has cancelled its morning trip from London to Lagos today.
TNT correspondent exclusively gathered that passengers scheduled to fly the airline’s aircraft coded VS412 billed to take off by 9 o’clock this morning were shocked on getting to the Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) early enough only to be told through public announcement at the airport that their flight has been cancelled without any explanations.
Tony Williams (not real name), a passenger who spoke to our team but pleaded anonymity for fear of victimisation remarked that many of the passengers who arrived for the trip from outside Lagos were stranded.
“Now I am confused actually. I cannot think straight. They’ve just told us that the flight is cancelled and they’re offering no reason. I’m not sure whether I should go back to Benin or stay in Lagos. When will the flight be rebooked? And if I stay, then at what cost, and on what ground? The passenger bemoaned.
A female passenger residing in Lagos, informed The Frontier that she came to the airport as early as 6am and then heard the announcement that the flight had been cancelled.
“Who does that?” she asked. Why should Virgin Atlantic (Airlines) take its passengers for granted? This morning my spouse dropped me at the airport on his way to his office on Victoria Island. “How do I get my luggage home and when exactly will the flight be rescheduled,” she said.
Attempts to contact the airline for comment proved unsuccessful.
