Senator Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, has denied being involved in ransom payments and conversations with kidnappers, saying that he has never received ransom money or been involved in any negotiations between kidnappers and the government.
Ndume made the statement yesterday night on Channels Television while responding to charges made by Samaila Kaigama, President of the Borno South Youth Alliance.
The legislator was said to have been involved in the ransom negotiations for the release of abducted people of Ngoshe in Borno State.
I have said this before. “I have never seen ₦1 billion cash in my life, let alone ₦5 billion,” the senator stated.
“I did not negotiate with the terrorists, neither did I participate in any ransom arrangement; my only involvement was to inform the security agencies after Kaigama told me about a video allegedly released by Boko Haram/ISWAP demanding ₦5 billion ransom.
