Residents may soon be able to change the Trump Tower Chicago address to that of former President Barack Obama.
There’s a petition going around in Chicago to rename the road front of Trump Tower from N. Wabash Ave. to Barack Hussein Obama Ave. The petition states the name would change “the official address of Trump Tower to Obama Ave. “This sends a small message about the values we hold as a city, those of inclusivity, resilience and forward-thinking change, and fighting back in any way possible,” the petition states.
The petition has more than 25,000 signatures. The president is very unpopular in Windy City, where he earned only 22 percent of the vote in Chicago in the 2024 presidential election.
Chicagoans hate Trump, with countless protests often culminating outside of his hotel Downtown.

City Alderman Brendan Reilly has also put out an ordinance to name the stretch of Wabash Ave on where Trump Tower is located “Barack Hussein Obama Way.”
Honorary street signs in Chicago usually reserved for persons who have passed away, but Reilly said his proposal includes an exception for a former president. “That’s really the spirit of this, to recognise Obama,” Reilly told Block Club Chicago.
The former president spent most of his adult life in Chicago and still has a residence there. Michelle Obama, the former first lady, grew up on the city’s South Side.
Trump seems to be jealous of Obama a lot. He constantly says how fast Obama could Trump seems jealous of Obama often. “He speaks about how quickly Obama could Mayor Brandon Johnson, who frequently finds himself in the crosshairs of Trump’s ire, told reporters Wednesday that honouring the former president in this manner could be a possible. “I’m glad the alderman put it forward and we’ll have the debate,” Johnson said. “But there is certainly no debate about President Obama’s exceptional leadership.”
The dedication event for Obama’s presidential center has attracted several high-profile attendees.

Trump and many right figures have long mocked the nation’s third-largest metropolis.
Trump has branded Chicago a “killing field,” a “hellhole,” a “disaster” and a “Death Trap.” He called it last year “the worst and most dangerous city in the world by far.”
In an unhinged Truth Social post last year, the president appeared to imply he was ready to declare war on the city, uploading an image that read: “I love the smell of deportations in the morning … Chicago soon will know what the Department of WAR is all about.
He eventually backtracked on the threat.
