Rapper Ice Prince has revealed that the realities of contemporary romance scares him from getting married in a hurry.
The rapper remarked in a podcast with media personality Rufai Oseni that he sees marriages that fail within a year after wedding ceremonies.
He also said the costs of lavish ceremonies are a worry, adding that friends often come to him for money to pay for their weddings.
“I don’t want to put myself in that position but I may think about marriage later in life, maybe 40,” Ice Prince stated.
He highlighted the example of rapper M.I Abaga who married at that age.
He said: “I get scared of this marriage thing more and more everyday because I see people get married and in less than a year they want out. I witness the drama people go through to get married, the concern about borrowing money. My pals are asking me for money to get married and I don’t want to be that guy.
“I’m hoping maybe when I’m 40. Some of my mentors were married that age, somebody like M.I Abaga got married at that age. I guess when I get that age I’ll probably be wondering about that. I don’t plan to for now”.
The rapper also had additional ambitions for when he gets 40. He said he wanted to go back to school and own a farm.
“I don’t see myself actively releasing albums at that age,” he said, “so I’m going into a different phase of life.”
“Also I have other goals, when I’m 40. I want to go to school. I want to go to school so desperately and I want to own a farm when I’m that age. I don’t want to be putting out albums when I’m 40,” he continued.
