The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has elected its immediate past President of the Senate, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez as the new president of the association.
Afeez won the NANS convention in Abuja as he polled 349 votes to beat his closest rival, Aminu Haruna Maipanpo with 12 votes and Odumosu Olumide with 10 votes, The Guardian reports.
He promised in his acceptance speech after being declared the winner to deliver inclusive and responsive leadership to the student body and offered to work hard to protect the rights and welfare of Nigerian students wherever they study.
