Afrobeats star, Adekunle Gold has described how he yearned for death at age 20, amid one of the most severe sickle cell crises he’d ever had.
Gold told media personality Angela Yee in an interview that the event was filled with great agony and he felt overwhelmed.
“The situation got so bad that my mother, who usually would discourage me from thinking like that, didn’t say anything that night.”
Gold said he was grateful to be alive and still living with the disease.
“I had the craziest crisis of my life when I was 20. I told God, “Took my life. And my mom couldn’t even yell at me. Normally she would have, but that night it reached the point where it felt like the only thing that made sense was to just happen,” he recalled.
