Mahmud Sadis Buba, seeking to represent the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has withdrawn from the contest, citing the ongoing reconciliation process in the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State.
Buba said this in a statement announcing his decision, adding that the withdrawal was following wide consultations with his family, political associates and party stakeholders. He said the move was important to enhance unity within the party ahead of the general election.
Rallying behind a single candidate, he said, had become imperative for the triumph of the APC and the future growth of the constituency and the state.
It was a decision not easily made. “But it was expedited by the reconciliation efforts initiated by the stakeholders and leaders of our party,” he said.
Buba also thanked Uba Sani and the Kaduna State leadership of the APC for the opportunity to participate in the party’s nomination process.
He said the experience was enriching and thanked his friends and people for standing by him during the political journey.
The former contender reiterated his devotion to the APC, saying his departure is not a display of weakness but a sacrifice for party unity.
He promised to strive for the success of the party’s consensus candidate and called on his followers to stay calm, unified and fully in line with the party’s choice ahead of the votes.
