A distressed mother, Mrs Adesola Iyomaterie, has appealed for public assistance to locate her son, Ovie Kehinde Iyomaterie, who has been missing in Lagos State since May 13, 2025.
Ovie was last seen on Orchid Road, Lekki, reports The Guardian.
In an emotional video plea, Mrs Iyomaterie stated that her son has never gone a day without calling her. She revealed that she has reported his disappearance to the police, conducted personal searches, visited prisons, and checked hospitals in her desperate bid to find him.
“I don’t know what is happening to him. I am pleading with Nigerians and the Nigeria Police to help me search for my son. He’s my only son, I have been searching for him for the past 25 days. I don’t know if he’s alive or not, help me,” she tearfully appealed.
Following her public appeal, the Lagos State Police Command issued a statement assuring Mrs Iyomaterie, the public, and all Lagos residents that every necessary action is being taken to locate Ovie and reunite him safely with his family.
The Command confirmed that it has activated all relevant investigative teams, including special tactical squads and all police divisions and area commands across Lagos State.
Furthermore, police commands in states contiguous to Lagos have also been brought into the search to ensure Ovie is returned home unharmed.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, had previously directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, to take over the case and conduct a discreet investigation to ensure the missing young man is found.
