Following the discovery of an unequal distribution of the federal government’s palliatives to senators for subsequent distribution to their constituents, the Senate was thrown into a rowdy session.

According to Daily Trust, the Northern Senators Forum Chairman, Senator Abdul Ningi, made the accusation in an interview with BBC Hausa, which was discussed in the Red Chamber.

Ningi’s allegations that the 2024 budget had been padded by an astounding N3.7 trillion incited his fellow senators to a riot and led to heated discussions.

Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe’s revelation that some senators received N500 million as palliatives for their constituents while others received N200 million caused the session to further degenerate.

A yelling match broke out between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and certain senators after this revelation did not sit well with them.
