The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has stated that the ‘New Abia’ he is building will place more value on the talents and contributions of its citizens than on their citizenship or place of birth.

The new Abia that we are building places less emphasis on one’s birthplace. It doesn’t matter about your home country or government. The new Abia values your abilities and contributions.

“In so far as you are a part and parcel of this state, you are treated equally with others who were born and bred here,” Governor Otti told the group.
On Friday, Governor Otti made the remarks while honouring eight Abia State police officers who had recently been promoted and four other officers of Abia descent who had recently graduated from the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano.

He argued that one’s birthplace is merely a random occurrence in history and that this fact has no bearing on one’s value as a resident.

The Governor extended his best wishes to the newly promoted officers and graduates, and he urged them to continue working hard, believing in themselves, and doing their best in every assignment.

He promised the officers the full backing of the government in their quest for professional advancement.

I can promise you that this government will provide you with everything you need to succeed. He told her, “We are very proud of you, and we know you will do us proud in the future.

Uche Kelechi Eloyi, Azubuike Prince Chisom, Golden Agbugbakansi, and Mercy Egwumba Amarachi are the police officers who recently completed the fifth regular course at the Police Academy.
