Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has debunked allegations its National Chairman, Alhaji Musa Muhammed, is a member of Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators (LASPAGA).

It said Muhammed could not be removed as RTEAN chairman since he was never a member of LASPGM, reports The Nation.

The union stressed Muhammed’s achievements as chairman remain unrivalled since the association was founded 45 years ago. It added the publication of June 26 was done to dent Muhammed’s good deeds when he led the association.

A statement by the secretary reads: “Alhaji Musa Muhammed, aka Maitakobi, is the national president of Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN). He was never a member of LASPAGA. Therefore, he cannot be removed as RTEAN chairman. His supposed removal, by LASPAGA, through a supposed vote of no confidence, was raised by LASPAGA’s secretary, who was a member and secretary of RTEAN.

“We know nothing about the Iyana Iba fracas, which led to dissolution of RTEAN. In fact, our zonal chairmen and other national officers were at Abuja that day. But, two days later, the government said RTEAN was suspended till further notice, and LASPAGA set up.

“RTEAN members were chased out of the secretariat at Akesan, Lagos State. The chairman’s office was burgled and his valuables stolen.

“Though the court has reinstated RTEAN, the government is yet to do the right thing by dissolving LASPAGA and reinstating us to our office. RTEAN is a law-abiding trade union and acts according to the rule of law.”
