According to Olisa Agbakoba, former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the country’s constitution makes no provision for an interim government.

The senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) stated that “the gravest possible consequences must be applied” to those accused of plotting.

The Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed on Wednesday a plot “by some key players” to install an interim government and prevent Bola Ahmed Tinubu from being sworn in as president.

According to the DSS, the plot includes staging violent protests across the country in order to engineer the declaration of a state of emergency, as well as obtaining frivolous court injunctions to prevent the inauguration.
