New Kano emir performs first public assignment
The new emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has begun his first public assignment as the 15th Fulani descendant emir in Kano.
Aminu Ado Bayero, son of late Emir Ado replaced the 14th Fulani emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was deposed by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Monday.
Although the new emir was yet to officially install and receive a staff of authority, emir Aminu on Tuesday visited the tomb of his ancestors at Gidan Nassarawa in the metropolis accompanied by a huge crowd.
Emir Aminu who left his personal residence at Mandawari quarters in the city centre was at the graveyard where his father also buried to offer special prayers.
Soon after leaving the royal tomb, emir proceeded to his mother’s residence at Gandu Albasa quarters where he sought her blessings.
The emir had since returned to his private residence at Nassarawa quarters, where thronged to pay their homage.
He is expected to begin the traditional rites of ascending the throne of his ancestors Wednesday. (The Guardian)
