An aide of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has spoken of his whereabouts and how he survived an apparent assassination attempt in his hometown yesterday, Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

News Express was last night among the first to break the news of the bloody attack on Soludo in which three of his police guards were killed by gunmen and their weapons taken away.

Soludo, the leading aspirant of the ruling All progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the November 6, 2021 Anambra election, was holding an interactive meeting with the youths of his community in Isuofia Local Government Area of Anambra State on yesterday evening when gunmen attacked the venue.

Commenting on the incident, Soludo’s aide, Hon. Pauly Onyeka, disclosed last night that “he was safely whisked away in the heat of the moment to a safe location.”

Onyeka gave assurance that the former CBN Governor “is safe and unharmed” but refused to disclose his location.

It is not yet clear if the attack is politically motivated as Soludo’s declaration to contest the November 6 governorship election is said to be causing jitters in other political camps.
