A non-governmental organization, Break The Silence Initiative Nigeria (BSiN) has rescued 20 under-aged Benue children in Lagos.

The children, said to have been lured from different schools and communities were trafficked for indiscriminate sexual activities, hard labour, slavery and exploitation in Ajah area of Lagos.

A statement signed by the Director, Media and Publicity of the organisation, Jeremiah Ikyernum, and made available to SATURDAY INDEPENDENT, indicated that, “A team of BSiN led by its President and founder, Mrs. Phoebe Awange had earlier begun investigations following a tip-off leading to the rescue of the victims.”

According to the statement, Mrs Awange appreciated the first lady of Benue state, Dr Eunice Ortom, for her “motherly role, concern and prompt response in the repatriation process of the victims to Makurdi, the Benue State capital to be re-oriented and reunited with their families.”

This is as she further appealed to the Benue state government to put measures in place to checkmate entries at motor parks across the state.

The BSiN President, in the same vein, admonished parents and guardians to be more vigilant and look out for dubious elements in their neighborhood. (Daily Independent)
