COVID-19: NCDC confirms 118 new infections

Plateau state Government on Friday evening disclosed that182 persons had been infected with COVID-19 in the state in the past five days.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Nimkong Lar, made the disclosure at a joint press briefing at old Government House alongside the state Commissioner of Information Dan Manjang

According to him, the current rise in number of infected persons in the state is attributed to non-observance of covid-19 protocol by the people of the state.

Dr Lar lamented that disrespect of the guidelines that was outlined by the state government to stop the spread of the Virus in the state are not being adhered to and warned that the state government might be compelled to slam another lock down on the state.

He urged citizens to continue to obey safety directives by wearing their facemask and regular washing of hands .

He further said that the Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong who tested positive to the virus is responding to treatment and doing well.

Similarly, commissioner of Information Dan Manjang who also spoke at the briefing said the Second wave of the virus is here in the state and Appealed to citizens of Plateau to obey safety directives.

In his words “There had been rumors of another lockdown ,for now the situation has not warranted that , but Government might be forced to lockdown the state if the cases keep increasing and the people keep disobeying COVID 19 guidelines . (Saturday Independent)
