Obaseki wins Edo election 2020

INEC has declared Godwin Obaseki the winner of the Edo State gubernatorial election. Mr. Obaseki will return as Governor for a second term.

Obaseki  was declared winner of  Edo election after the final result  were counted from all LGA’s  and declared by INEC electoral officer in charge of Ovia West LG,  Prof. Akpofure Rem-Rukehon on Sunday afternoon

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having won 307,955 votes in yesterday’s governorship ballot as against 223,619 by his main rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obaseki took to his Twitter handle to thank the people of Edo State for their votes. He stated, “Words fail me in saluting our teeming supporters who displayed immense courage in the face of threats, intimidation and brutalization. The collective will of Edo people made it possible for us to triumph over godfatherism. Congratulations to all Edo people. This is our victory!”
