Ange Kagame reportedly running Rwanda as father Paul battles illness

Rwandan President Paul Kagame who is the immediate past chairman of African Union is reportedly battling a serious illness after having had a brain tumor removed in April. Kagame was last seen in public some months ago and is said to be holding cabinet meetings through his 26-year-old daughter Ange Kagame.

Referred to as the De facto president, 6 foot 3 inch, Belbain-born Ange Kagame who turns 27 in five days is said to be the only trusted conduit to the Rwandan president. Her older brother Ivan Cyomoro Kagame (30), was appointed by their father as a board member of the Rwanda Developed Board (RDB) back in May this year.

Ange Kagame is the second child and only daughter of Paul Kagame, current president of Rwanda. She has been involved in causes that include women’s empowerment, education, and poverty eradication, as well as mass vaccination campaigns. She is very well-spoken having picked up a fluent American Accent during her school days in the united States.

Paul Kagame has been the president of Rwanda since 2000 and has been described as the “most impressive” and “among the most repressive” African leaders. But in a March, 2020 video, he walked unsteadily from his vehicle down a flight of stairs prompting rumors of serious illness which were confirmed with an April operation to remove a brain tumor.

Kagame has reportedly been unseen since, and daughter Ange has been facilitating the running of cabinet meetings as well as unofficially handling many of her father’s duties.
