Following the successful completion of planned maintenance on the gearbox facility, the restoration was finished on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 11:39 a.m.
As a result of the breakthrough, Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) can once again accept bulk electricity for distribution to consumers throughout the city of Kano and its environs.
The transmission line was successfully re-energised, indicating the conclusion of the scheduled intervention on the vital electricity infrastructure, according to TCN’s Kano Region.
Although the exact supply reaching individual consumers will also rely on distribution network conditions and available generation, the restoration is anticipated to alleviate electrical supply constraints related to the outage.
An essential part of Kano’s electrical infrastructure, the Kumbotso–Dan’Agundi 132kV transmission line connects transmission facilities that facilitate bulk power delivery to the distribution network.
After the planned repair is completed, its restoration makes it possible for KEDCO to restart regular electricity offtake through the impacted transmission arrangement.
The development eliminates the immediate transmission-related constraint related to the repair exercise for energy users in Kano metropolis and surrounding areas.
The restoration also emphasises how crucial prompt maintenance and infrastructure improvements are to maintaining Nigeria’s electrical transmission network’s dependability. Purchase Maps
According to TCN, the successful restoration is a component of its dedication to effective bulk power transmission and ongoing enhancement of the country’s transmission infrastructure.
The business insisted that it will keep carrying out initiatives meant to improve service delivery and fortify the transmission network.
TCN stated that the line was re-energised at 11:39 am after the planned work was successfully completed in a statement signed by management on November 1, 2026.
KEDCO may now resume regular bulk electricity offtake for distribution to clients in Kano metropolis and its surrounding areas because the transmission facility is back in operation.
