The Headies Awards organisers have announced that the 18th edition of the awards event has been postponed from October 2026 till April 10 and 11, 2027 in Toronto, Canada.
The awards were initially planned to be held on October 23, 2026, before the announcement was announced Saturday through the awards’ official Instagram page.
Organisers said the new plan will allow them to expand the program across Nigeria and Canada before the Toronto finale.
The journey to the 18th Headies rages on. We’re rolling out the program in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now set for April 10 and 11, 2027,” the statement stated.
The program has been expanded to include workshops, seminars, music industry events and a business and investment conference.
The “Road to The Headies” activities will continue within the original event window with the full schedule changes to be announced through the organizers’ official channels.
The organisers also apologised to guests, partners and participants who had already made travel arrangements for the original dates.
We sincerely apologies to guests who have already made travel and other arrangements for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience and ongoing support. The statement added: “More program updates and guest information will follow here.”
The 18th edition of The Headies marks the awards show’s expansion to Canada, after past international editions in Atlanta, that were themed “Africa to the World.”
The wider program will mix music, industry involvement and business interchange culminating in the awards and the Headies Global Trade & Investment Summit in Toronto.
Organisers gave no other justification for the postponement beyond an intention to extend activities in Nigeria and Canada.
Headies will release the confirmed calendar, venues and participation details through its official channels.
