The United States has reinforced its defence partnership with Nigeria with the delivery of military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force, underscoring Washington’s continued support for Abuja’s efforts to confront terrorism and other security threats.
The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced the development on its official website, saying a U.S. Air Force C-17 transport aircraft delivered the equipment to the Nigerian Air Force over the weekend.
AFRICOM said the consignment was supplied under a Foreign Military Sales agreement between the United States and Nigeria, describing the arrangement as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral security cooperation.
The command said the equipment would contribute to Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations and strengthen its capacity to respond to security challenges confronting the country and the wider region.
The latest delivery further highlights the growing defence relationship between Washington and Abuja, with both countries continuing to collaborate on measures aimed at improving Nigeria’s military capabilities and combating violent extremism.
