ARSENAL fought back to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on yesterday Sunday, to keep their perfect start to the Premier League season.
Morgan Rogers’ goal inside the opening two minutes startled the home fans as Chelsea took an early lead. Arsenal nevertheless, replied in numbers and slowly grabbed control of the battle.
Arsenal equalised in the 25th minute through a clinical finish from Kai Havertz to pull the Gunners back into the contest.
Arsenal turned it around five minutes into the second half. It was not until the 50th minute that Mikel Arteta’s side went in front when Martin Ødegaard hit the net.
Chelsea tried for an equaliser late on but Arsenal defended strongly, with goalie David Raya making key stops as the visitors attempted to get back into the match.
The win means Arsenal have now won their opening three Premier League matches and remain one of the early leaders on a pristine nine points. Meanwhile, Chelsea suffered their first league loss of the campaign.
It also extended Arsenal’s unbeaten record against Chelsea to 11 matches and underlined the Gunners’ current supremacy in the London derby.
