The Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, who went on a vacation to Europe yesterday, mandated a probe into the controversy over the kingship of Koka town in Obokun Local Government.
The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, hinted that the governor will also visit the United Kingdom for medical check up as part of the holiday before travelling to other countries, which will be revealed in due course.
“I am taking a little sabbatical to renew myself and get further ready to serve the lovely people of Osun State. Adeleke was alleged to have said this when he took off from the Lagos airport.
He nevertheless asked the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate the circumstances under which another king was allegedly appointed for Koka Ilase resulting to the alleged establishment of two traditional rulers in the community.
Adeleke explained that the development had become urgent to evaluate the situation and enforce due process of the law in respect of the chieftaincy law and tradition.
I read about another king set up apart from the king on the stool. The ministry is directed to investigate the controversy and file a report to set the records straight.
“I however urge all stakeholders to be peaceful while the ministry does the needful. “Kingship is governed by the laws and regulations that exist and the government will uphold the law and tradition of our people,” the governor stated.
